2020 Ski-Doo lineup redefines utility segment and increases deep snow performance

Redesigned Ski-Doo Expedition models move to the REV Gen4 platform with innovative features for increased capability
Ski-Doo has made some dramatic changes to the sleds that people work with all day. Blurring the line between work and fun, the Expedition segment will have those that rely on their sled for their daily grind, whistling while they work. The class-leading 1,500-lb towing capacity of the SE doesn’t hurt!

Additionally, the manufacturer took the time to elevate their mountain and crossover sleds to meet the feedback of riders and experts in those markets.

■ Deep Snow Expert
Deep powder performance is the hallmark of the Ski-Doo Summit line, and of all the sleds in the lineup, the Summit X 850 with Expert Package has a host of features guaranteed to make it a fan favorite.

Only available with spring orders, the Expert’s Rotax 850 E-TEC engine can power the sled through deep snow and climbs, but also has the finesse to deliver the rider through a tree-dotted landscape.

This sled was designed with extensive backcountry expert input and incorporates many details to make easy riding of deep snow conditions. One of these features includes a short tunnel with a lightweight rear fender and missing snowflap. Not having a snowflap on the back allows the snow to be efficiently tunneled out the back of the sled letting the track chomp away at the powder.

Kashima coated front shocks with lightweight springs and KYB Pro 36 R rear shock with stiffer calibration than the other Summits are also included. Additionally, the seat and spindles have been designed for less weight and a limiter strap adjuster has been added.

The SHOT battery-less push-button starter system, is also available, allowing the rider only to have to pull start their sled once or twice during a ride and saving their shoulders for the day’s aggressive riding.
■ Work it – Expedition Style
Most of the new 2020 Expedition models now sit on the 20-inch wide track, REV Gen4 Platform. This platform puts the rider in control, making the Expeditions easy to maneuver in every condition. The new 2020 Expeditions are also equipped with a variety of Rotax engine choices all with great towing capacities, and a host of other features for the rider who needs a sled that can handle the gnarliest of days, the best powder, and a full day of work or play.

With four of the six Expeditions offering the powerful 900 ACE Turbo engine, these machines are not only steadfast workhorses, but also make for a reliable sport sled. In addition, the Intelligent Throttle Control, or iTC, comes standard on all ACE engines which allows the rider to choose between three driving modes: Standard, Sport, and ECO.

Perhaps some of the best innovation is seen with what you can attach to your Ski-Doo for work or play. The Multi-LinQ plate allows riders to carry a host of accessories from an oil caddy to an ice auger, and quickly take attachments on and off to customize their ride to the activity at hand.

The new Expedition SE could be considered a luxury ride in this sports utility category when you take into consideration the comfort features offered such as a forward adjustable riser, easy shift transmission (H-L-N) with push button reverse, and passenger amenities such as heated passenger handholds with deflectors and footrest.
Fueled by innovation, BRP is elevating its Ski-Doo snowmobile lineup with new 2020 models to increase the fun and performance riders are looking for. Highlights include a completely redesigned, easier to ride Ski-Doo Expedition sport-utility line, and an Expert package deep snow Summit X model that dominates backcountry powder.

“Ski-Doo is the number one snowmobile brand in the world because of our continuous innovation and drive to improve the rider experience,” said Bernard Guy, BRP Senior Vice-President Global Product Strategy. “This year is no different. We gathered feedback from riders and experts around the world to better understand what they crave. The result is an incredibly capable, highly functional lineup with models for riders of all skill levels. We are redefining the experience of riding a snowmobile.”
Expedition REV Gen4 20-inch models
New Ski-Doo Expedition 20-inch (51 cm) wide track models now sit on Ski-Doo’s highly responsive and precise REV Gen4 platform, which makes both work and play easier. They also have the industry’s best towing capacity – regardless of engine choice – as well as a new high/low Easy Shift transmission with a simple push-button reverse.

Additionally, new Expedition models feature industry-leading cargo capacity and versatility thanks to an innovative Multi-LinQ plate, which allows riders to securely carry a wide array of tools. And BRP has added many functional accessories to its lineup, including a cargo box that quickly comes on and off, and attachments to carry essentials like chainsaws, ice augers, hand tools, and extra gas or oil. Now it’s easier than ever to cross chores off the list.

Backcountry X-RS 154
The new Ski-Doo Backcountry model is built to allow people go further, much easier, thanks to a 154-inch (391 cm) track length that enhances deep snow capability. The proven comfort and handling of the cMotion rear suspension and cross-over front suspension helps riders push their limits in the powder while still experiencing great on-trail performance.
