Woodies Racing has announced that Theo Poirier of Sayabec, Quebec, Canada, has joined its team for the 2019-20 snocross season. He will be racing in the ISOC Pro Lite class. Poirer, 17, is entering his fourth season racing snowmobiles. Last season, he won the SCMX Pro Lite Championship in Quebec, as well as the two CSRA Pro Lite races he entered.
Poirer grew up riding every brand of snowmobile. His racing career started on a dirt bike in Canada’s SXQC Arenacross, where he finished fourth in the Pro class last summer. Poirer also has one experience on the ISOC tour. In 2018, he made the trip to Salamanca, N.Y., where he finished third in the Sport Lite and Jr 16-17 classes.
“Of course, my goal is to be a professional snocross racer in the United States," said Poirer. "I am also studying Mechanical Engineering at Cégep Limoilou.”
Poirer works with a strength and conditioning coach, and his off-season workouts include swimming, cross-fit, strength training, and cardio. Outside of racing, Poirer enjoys the outdoors. He isn’t a gamer or a big TV watcher. He likes mechanic work, skiing, and being outside.
Poirier started his racing career wearing #28. Last season, he added the #7 in honor of a friend who passed away. Theo will continue to honor his friend by riding with #728 on his Arctic Cat this season.
“Theo Poirier is a great young man," said team owner Paul Woodie. "He has a ton of potential and will fit in our family team environment really well.”
