Pulse lines filled with oil

98 Mach Z 779 Triple, pulled the pulse hoses off the case fittings and oil flowed out of the center port, a lot came out of the PTO port. The hoses and pumps were filled also. I was wondering if the oil pump check valves might be the cause. What else might cause this? Thanx for the help.

Re: Pulse lines filled with oil

I tested the check valves - they're operating correctly. Also checked the cap vent - breathing correctly. I pulled the reeds out and sucked about 2 oz. of oil out of each cylinder, all 3 were filled. Any ideas why they're filling up?

Re: Pulse lines filled with oil

I assume someone installed a 779 motor in the 98 chassis.

Many of the early mach-Zs, 93-95, had a problem bleeding oil thru the pump and into the cylinders if they sat for long periods of time. This would be worst if the rear of the sled was elevated.

The easy way out was to pull and plug the oil line at the pump when storing for long periods.

I could be wrong on the year, I'll recheck, it is a factory build. Maybe I'll install a shut off valve since this sets alot. Thanx for the info.

Re: Pulse lines filled with oil

You refer to the sled as having " pulse lines" if it has two pulse lines and two fuel pumps it is a 93 or 94 sled. If it is indeed a 95 it will have a single high volume pump with single impulse line.

You also were looking for info on clutch alignment info for a 98 also. If you havent allready found out,98 specs will do you no good on a 93 to 97 model.
