Pipe Question For a Rupp

I drag race a 76 Magnum mod.  I built the motor and it is making great power.  I also just bought a Dynomite Land and sea dyno.  I would like to achieve 500 more Rpm's at max HP.  Is it possible to shorten the header section of the pipe to gain RPM's without hurting HP ??  Also when I start playing with engine timing on the dyno will this change RPM's to peak HP ??? Just looking for a bit of advise before I hack up the pipes and weld them back together.  THANKS

Re: Pipe Question For a Rupp

shortening the header pipe usually translates a higher rpm hp range ,that is all trial and error.
