Willie - 2008 IQ700 Reflash or not?

Willie, is there an 08 IQ700 reflash available or not?  I have not heard from my dealer on any updates.  Thanks

Flash coming from Polaris soon, will enable E10 wires as Dragon 800 has for 09..

Dealers do not have map yet

Would this apply to the 07 700 as well?

What does the E10 wires allow?

Isn't that for the use of ethanol fuel?

Re: Willie - 2008 IQ700 Reflash or not?

e10 is 10% ethanol which is becoming more available than non-ethanol fuels.  "Wires unplugged" is for the e10 fuel use which requires approx. 5% more fuel flow than non-ethanol fuel so 5% more fuel is added (I don't know if it is throughout the fuel curve or at certain rpms).    The assumption is that we have been running unplugged here in the States (but only one fuel map anyway) even if we were running 91 non-ethanol which would be 5% richer than necessary.  Will some try to run 87 octane (and lower with poor fuel quality)  with the wires plugged for a lean mixture of a detonation-prone fuel?  Probably.  The detonation sensor and ECU should protect to a point if working properly which would result in a very rich mixture with retarded timing and poor performance.  I wouldn't push it - sensors fail.

OK but regardless of the ethanol wiring issue is there a reflash for the 08 IQ700 for sure?  Thanks

Can't confirm that... but I'm pretty sure the 600-700 will have a reflash to enable the E10 wire to be connect, wich lean the maping by 5% for non ethanol fuel.  The 09 600-700-800 have that option.  The maping is surely ready, but as usual, it's pain in the *** to get approbation from EPA... slow slow slow

I heard that the only good thing about Ethonal is that it burns cleaner so less emissions.  Other than that it is worse.  It costs more to make than gas, it makes your engine less fuel efficient, and gives you less HP.

If all I ran was 91 octane with 10%ethonal, then having it plugged in would be ok, right?  I should unplug it if I run anything less then 91 octane with 10% ethonal in it, right?

Re: Willie - 2008 IQ700 Reflash or not?

Hey Wille,

I'd really appreciate your advice and help.

I have a 2007 Dragon 700 that I bought brand new and NEVER had the re-flash done. My dealer told me that he heard other guys that got the re-flash done were somewhat dissatisfied. I did have the dealer do the following updates: thermostat, chaincase bracket, & fuel/vapor seperator. (hesitation still there in warmer temps at part throttle)

I have a total of 2500 miles on this sled after 2 seasons of riding and am happy with it except for the following: Top end performance 99 m.p.h. on speedo max (96.7 g.p.s.) Oil consumption 80 to 90 miles per quart. Gas mileage 9.5 to 11 m.p.g. depending how hard I'm on the flipper.

Water temp is at 106-108 degrees almost all of the time, never above 112 even after thermostat update.

I have several questions:

First are there any new updates for a re-flash for the 2007 700 that actually work??

Which mods actually work (best bang for the buck) on this sled.???

Bikeman pipe mod(with the required boondockers) or SLP pipe?

V-force reeds ? (i have them sitting in a box on the shelf)

SLP flow rites and Hi-Flow intake air kit ?

dynojet powercommander w/ a/f ratio gauge?

Clutch /gearing combo

Can I cheat on leaning down the oil by tightening up on the throttle cable slack?

Can I cheat on the T.P.S by resetting it to .91 or .92 rather than the .94 spec to lean it out a little?

This sled is 100% stock except for the slp engine limiter on recoil side. I also confirmed clutches 11.5" center and checked offset alliignment with the gold plated Poaris tool (w/ offset built in) 23/39 gears, 144 1.375" picks in stock 1 1/4" ripsaw.

I tried the 68 MTX weights w/ stock primary spring and it lost bottom & mid-range.Tried 66 gram polaris weights w/ stock spring and seem to run slightly slower in half mile drag race against amy buddy's (test mule) identical stock dragon (prior we were nearly dead even)

I know I've asked a lot of questions, but I've seen and hear a lot but don't know what works and what doesn't.Any help and or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Willie - 2008 IQ700 Reflash or not?

1- Get the reflash now

2- After that, if you sled won't run between 120-130 F, have you tech give a call to polaris to solve that.  It's case by case for the 07 700 dragon.  If you engine run bellow 120F, the timing is retarded and more fuel is send to the engine.

3- I heard good result with SLP single pipe

Don't try anything before to get the temp at 120-130.  Don't play with the TPS, it's completly changing the maping, the timing, the reverse operation etc etc.
