AMSNOW AGAINST POLARIS?

Hey is it just me, or are these guys at american snowmobiler totally against Polaris, every mag i read they bash anything with the Polaris name. I picked up my new sled and came home to their mag in my mailbox. Over the summer they (Mark Savage) decided they hated the 600 Iq Polaris and nobody in their test crew even wanted to ride it. Maybe I am over reacting but I think this is a SkiDoo Mag and Site. Just wanted to know what everyone else thought.

Re: AMSNOW AGAINST POLARIS?

Its all new gadgets and products that every sled manufacturer offers and advertisement that keeps any magazine on one line or another. Polaris I believe right now is investing into product improvement to be #1 again rather than spending more money on advertisements. Lets face it Polaris sales are doing OK and we as Polaris faithfuls are always going to buy the best AMERICAN MADE snowmobile. Don't get me wrong the other sleds are good also in there own ways, but I feel Polaris is the most dependable and longest lasting sleds I see out on the trails and best I've ever owed.

Re: AMSNOW AGAINST POLARIS?

I totally agree, you see twice the 5-10 year old polaris machines on the trail as all other combined. They are still on the trail and they get you home! nit-picking personal querks like these amsnow guys are doing should be left in the bar and out of the mag. Skidoo is definitely pumping the money to these guys

Re: AMSNOW AGAINST POLARIS?

I've learned that most of the "test rider" editors are so biased/uninformed I've started ignoring their opinions. Many times I believe they are paraphrasing factory literature they were handed fo their test reviews. Look back at the stuff ALL of the editors wrote when the 900 Fusion came out. Or the suspension capabilities of the '07 and newer Apex RTX. Or most any of the Yammi rears for that matter. Pure BS. They've totally lost any respect I might have for their impressions. And it's not just AMsnow. I just don't care about one editors opinion any more.

'07 Apex RTX/X (w/Pro X suspension conversion), Doo extroverts, Cobra track. Fox Floats with NexTech's resi's, Dual Ryde FX w/clickers, HyGear dual rate front skid springs, .405 Edge torsion springs, SLP anti-stab kit. 2" Rox riser, Powermadd handguards/mirrors, shimmed skis w/custom (homemade) ski savers, Graphics by Arctic FX, and a grin every time I think about it! New back up sled/project: 600HO Fusion (built for trail/bumps also)

As for the biased veiws, it has been said that, the manufacture that provides the most $$$$ to the mag(s) usually gets the best reviews for the year. So with that, I say this. If your dealer helps you out and is reliable go with him or them. Who gives the best perks, warranty, service and such, is the one that I'd stay with till the end.

Just my 2 cents

Yeah, I'm with you on that one. I don't care whats out there, no sleds perfect, and no rider is exactly the same. A good dealer will often make or break your alliance with a manufacture with personalized setup. Imo, I think Polaris has done ok as of late needing to improve fuel economy a bit and maybe offer some better color choices, and graphics. I think the reason you see many more older Polaris sleds still on the trails is due to parts interchangeability something of a rarity today.

Re: AMSNOW AGAINST POLARIS?

I agree and this is why i haven't subscribed to their magazine since 06.  I'm sure it comes down to advertisement money.  It's really not that great of a magazine compared to some of the others that are available.

I just joined this site recently and they sent me a free mag but as i went through it i realized that it hasn't changed at all.

hihi, good question?   What I can understand is that the test guys want new stuff.  If it's new, it's good.  It it's not new, it's bad.  It don't take a lot of judgment to see that amsnow work with BRP!  But, especialy this year, they don't like polaris, that's for sure.  I also think that $$$ rules.  For marketing and advertising, Ski-doo is by far the best!!!  I personaly read as much as I  can about every snowmobile brand.  But I also know that many customers buy what they read.  And whit what I've read from the last 2 amsnow magazine, amsnow reader will not buy Polaris, but ski-doo!!!

The dragon in unpredicatble in the corners and it have chassis roll...  Hey amsnow guys, did you sleep with the ski-doo DVD or what?

Exactly, I agree 100%.  Polaris has the best rough trail suspensions, second best weight, best power to weight, best or tied for best handling, best stock HP, second best MPG (two stroke wise), best ergonomics (including wind protection).  Overall Polaris has the best sled out there.

I'm not renewing my AMSnow subsciption.

Maybe when Polaris comes out with a direct injection or new chassis next year AMSnow will give them some much needed and deserved attention.  I talked to a Polaris tech at the snowmobile show hear in Maine over the last wekend and he said somthing big is coming out next year for Polaris.  It will be either direct injection or a new chassis.

Re: AMSNOW AGAINST POLARIS?

Hey guys,

I just thought I would chime in here and offer another outlet for your questions.  We appreciate everyone's enthusiasm on this site and we love snowmobiles just as much as you do.  As I've said before in posts throughout the last several years, feel free to email me with any specific questions that you have regarding the magazine.

I have personally owned sleds from each of the big four manufacturers, and sleds from some makers that aren't even around anymore!  I think it's important to remember that when the editors and test riders at AmSnow share our views on sleds we do so with the appreciation that EACH manufacturer is making some of the most technical, best riding and handling, most efficient, highest performing, and all-around coolest sleds ever produced.

Thanks and I'll look forward to your emails.
