Re: How reliable are the 600 sdi sleds

Mine has 3400 miles on it and has been completely reliable.  Gas mileage from 16.5 to 19.9 mpg..  I rode the Yamana Apex ER on the way back from Northern Wisconsing last Sunday when Yamaha was doing their demo thing.  I was fully expecting to love the Apex and found I like my GSX with SDI a lot more.  Sorta saved me a lot of money as I am no longer interest in the Apex now.  Very happy to keep my GSX 600 SDI..  The Apex was most likely more powerful but sure didn't give me the good tummy feel I get when I open up the GSX.

I drove one 06 sdi 600x,  it's the first time I rode a rev. What is up, when you let off the gas it slows down real fast, it feels like I am going over the windshield.

I have never experienced that but the 4 strokes are like putting the brake on when you back off the trottle.  Are you sure you didn't put the brake on when you backed off the gas?

A guy I work with bought his wife one and she made it all of about 25 miles and it was toast.  One new engine later and I guess it runs well.  I have read or seen similar instances in many posts.

own one.....one of the MOST reliable sleds on the market....bullet proof.  Very impressive out of the box.....and when u left off the gas and it feels like the brakes are on that's a good thing, u use less brakes.  Also it just means that its downshifting....and quick clutch adjustment will solve that problem instantly.....but a trail rider will like that stock effect.  And as far as speed...the 600 H.O. sdi, your looking to run with most stock f7's....that area.

Re: How reliable are the 600 sdi sleds

2004 sdi 600 w/3600 miles with a couple of updates done including the rings.  Starts on 2 pulls everytime and runs like a champ.  I blow a belt every 1000 miles due to the fact that I kept the outside cover on the cluth gaurd intact.  I will have to open it up or drill out the rivets this summer.  I also ride an 04 f-7 and have had every cat from the ZR900 to the 292 lynx  since 1979.  I love the speed of the cat but am leaning towards buying another 600sdi but in the Renagade and X package for my next sled.  You can not beet the ride of the rev.

If an f-7 is getting beat by a 600 rev then something is wrong with the f-7 or the rev is supertuned.  I have hit 110 on the digital on the icy road with the rev which is very good in my opionion for a 600.  MPG have done as well as 18 and as poor as11 in wet deep snow conditions.
