Snowmobile sales increase 10% in 6-month period Arctic Cat Inc. has reported slightly lower sales for the second quarter, but higher earnings and increased snowmobile sales. Cat says second-quarter net sales were $204.3 million compared with $205.2 million a year earlier, but net earnings were $16.9 million, or 93 cents per diluted share, up from $13.9 million in the same quarter last year. Recreational Motorsports, the maker of 120cc snowmobile performance parts, has endorsed ISOC for the 2008-2009 race season, and has committed to a $3,000 savings bond award program. The bonds will be awarded for the 120 champ class at all of the National events. First place will $200, second place $100 and third place $50. Snowmobile sales up 3% in quarter, 11% for year Polaris Industries, Inc. reports good third-quarter sales and income figures with snowmobile, ATV and parts, garments and accessories all up for the quarter and first 9 months of the year. Sales for the third quarter hit a record $580.3 million, up 7% from last year's third-quarter sales of $544 million. Blair Morgan has arrived closer to home after suffering a severe back injury during practice for the Motocross Valvoline of Montreal on Sat., Sept. 20, at Olympic Stadium. Blair and his wife Terri Morgan arrived in Saskatoon, Sask., before 1 p.m. on October 3, and were transported to the hospital where Blair is staying in isolation.
