2009 AmSnow's Super Sled Shootout
By Mark Savage
Conditions were near perfect for speed - upper 60s, little wind and a slightly overcast late September afternoon, the moist morning air having lifted and the track turning sticky with plenty of fresh rubber. Several top speed sleds had been flirting with a record run, blistering the track with sub-8-second passes on US 131 Motorsports Park's prime ¼-mile asphalt. Its track announcer repeatedly teased the crowd and race teams that a world record could fall at any second. Then it did! Check out the photo gallery too!
