It’s here! The new C-TEC2 800 from Cat is finally here!

The new 800 was specifically kept under wraps until certain performance and durability thresholds were met, but now Cat is heralding its release with an early unveiling of 2018 models for both trail folks and mountain masters.

Next week, certain demo sleds are shipping to dealers across the country, and more are on their way. You can take advantage of owning some of the very first Cat C-TEC2 800s to be produced for the consumer by getting to your local dealer now!

The specific sleds being released are the new ZR 8000 Sno Pro ES (in 129- and 137-inch lengths) and the M 8000 Sno Pro (in 153- and 162-inch lengths, with 3-inch lugs). These sleds are meant to be a teaser to the rest of Cat’s 2018 lineup, equipped with new Gen II body plastics and styling. The M-sleds are also in the new Ascender mountain platform.

Unfortunately, due to a leak, some information on these machines got out early, but AmSnow has ALL the correct and direct info right here, plus a bonus photo gallery with pics that you can’t get anywhere else! Check out the photos below!

Arctic Cat's new 800 C-TEC2 engine is finally here!
The 800 engine
A high-output twin-cylinder laydown dual-stage injection motor, the 800 C-TEC2 is a 794cc liquid 2-stroke that replaces the 800 Suzuki in all of Cat’s lines. Look for better gas and oil efficiency and better mid-range performance out of this motor. Similar to the 600 C-TEC motor, the new 800 C-TEC2 mixes the oil with the fuel, and that mixture is directly injected into the cylinder’s boost port side. All the 800 trail sleds will have the TEAM Rapid Response II clutches as well.

Cat claims much faster throttle response and acceleration in the ZR chassis, as well as 30% reduction in oil usage (if you keep the sled below 7000 rpm) and better fuel economy than the old Suzuki 800. If you are up in the rpms, it will obviously drink more! The performance gains are suggested to be a 36% increase in low-end torque and 18% at mid-range. Cold starting and smoke at start and idle are said to be less, and Cat claims that starting will be more consistent with fewer pulls.

New style and Ascender platform
According to Arctic Cat, the new 2018 plastics are meant to improve cool air intake and hot air exhaust from under the hood, keeping the sleds running at optimum performance. Much of the hot air is exhausted through the footwells, and when the sled is idling, more hot air can be released through the top of the hood. The headlight cowl is the same, but basically all the other plastics are different. The M sled panels are meant for mountain riding and 80mm narrower than the previous design.

The new Ascender platform is the culmination of years of Cat improvements to the old ProClimb chassis, and it including a drop case mountain drive system, a narrowed chassis, mountain front suspension, a 3-inch lug Powerclaw track and much more.

For both the trail and mountain folks, new access panels have much better fit and finish, and they easily click and lock securely into place with just the turn of a tab.
