800 polaris small block power?

Does anyone know what kind of power these make? will they make what a skidoo 800 makes? Want to build a 800 oval sled for water cross just doing some research, thanks in advance

Re: 800 polaris small block power?

I saw a You Tube video of a guy going 118 MPH on a 2009 stock 800 121", he was going across a lake in loose snow without studs and wasn't to the bar.  It was a preseason certified test sled.  I know they have 154 HP out of the box, 2 more HP than Ski doo 800, and 4 more HP than a Cat 1000

Re: 800 polaris small block power?

Crazy how how engines have gotten more HP over the years.  Back in 2002 the Polaris 800 Liberty put out just under 140 HP, and that was really good for the time. Now the Polaris 700 H.O. CFI puts out 140, a bit more than the 02 800.  Heck the modern day 800 H.O. CFI put's out more than a modern day 1000cc sled.  Personally I don't think Polaris has gotten the recognition they deserve for making the fastest and most HP 800 and 600 stock sleds.

WL I am talking about the new 09 800 twin.Made way less than polaris claimed. Two seperate dyno sessions with it with an 08.5 ECU and a 09 ECU. 09 made a little less power.

Yeah, yeah, I personally won't believe what DTR says when they do their dyno runs with BMP prodeucts nearby to test right afterwards.  There are other dynoes out there that are trustworthy IMHO.

i race watercross with the non ves 800 my own porting twin pipes reeds ect... isnt the new 800 efi? efi engines are a pain to watercross because of warmer weather and all the mods you have to do to compete. im sure its possible to tune them in for it though.

because one stroke isnt enough and 4 strokes waste 2

I'm sure the new 800 will be very potent but don't let the claims of more power than a cat 1000 fool you guys. The cat 1000 is an absolute marvelous motor and one that is highly mod-able.A y pipe and timing key will put you near 180 hp on those sleds. They are not to be dealt with lightly.I beleve the new Polar motor wil have room to be tweaked but nowhere near the extent of the cat 1000.

those twin 1000cc cats arent what they are claimed to be... ive seen stock 800s keep up with D&Ds 1000cc cats with the y pipe, timing key, single pipe and trail porting. you cant believe D&D's dyno results they obviously mark up thier results to help promote thier products. now if your talking the 1000cc triple they are still the fastest sled ever made.

Not to slam D&D but the real good running ones in my neck of the woods are not from there.Htg built and ported and a local guy , jeff Sherlock, make them run real stout....222-224 horsepower with trail porting and twin pipes.Oneida lake has a lot of these sleds on it and NO 800 is even close and I own a Flannery ported xcr motor that runs VERY good for a 800.My friend has a Cat 1000 setup with the above mentioned timing key and Y pipe and it is VERY fast..especially out of the hole..he also gets me in the traction department.I can beat him if the race gets longer...cause the trips have BIG LEGS.Those cat motors are very impressive in terms of strength and potential..I Pray the Polaris is even close and I would be happy.
