ordered 2009 REV XP 800r Renegade X.. need some help
I used to have a 2000 MX Z 700 when I was 14-15. I thought that had a lot of power then.. and I havn't ridden a sled since. I'm 18 now, and I just ordered this sled today (2009 REV XP 800r Renegade X- all black w/ electric start), last day before the dealer sent in the spring order list to BRP. I didn't have my 2000 700 studded, should I get this new one studded? If yeah, then how many and what design? Are there drawbacks to studding a sled? It's a 137" "ripsaw" track. Does that kind of track make a difference in the decision to stud or not? Also, I've never had a new sled so how should I break it in? Also, besides the basic needs of the sled, what should be done to it for maintenece and for storage in the summer?

Stud it for sure unless you ride in powder all the time. Not only do they help accelleration they help you stop.

XP

I got a 2008 rev xp and i love it. i didnt have it stuudded last season but bought studs for this season im going to put them on my self. you have to buy the woody studs that are designed for it. they only recomend 84 for my sled any more they wont warranty the track. If you want some other ideas i work with goodwinn performance. They have alot of testing on the new xpand i value there opinion. if you do mostly powder riding than i wouldnt bother studding it save your money. But if you do mostly trail rideing than go ahead nothing is cheap thogh.

This is what im doing to my sled this summer.

Clutch kit,Jetting down on the carb by 2 sizes, check my oil pump setting, studs, drill out the outside of skis so i can have dual carbide runners.

any other questions feel free

First make sure you install tunnels protetors if you stud it and stud down the center only. Use 1-3/8 long studs on an 1-1/4 rip saw. The dealer should have it prepped for break in. I have an 06-800 Renny and there was a chip in the computer that blows at aprox 300 miles to prevent over reving at break-in. Your dealer and the manual will answer all your questions,

Enjoy

put 108 woody's gold digger's down the middle (1 3/8) stud size.also put on tunnel protecters.leave the skies alone, they are excellect the way they are from the factory.they already have duel carbides on the skies.after 400 to what ever miles you have after that, put in a clutch kit.also you'll need to up grade the hyfax's.they wear fast in low snow condition's.put on a set of graphite hyfaxs, they last a long time.and finelly put on the wheel kits that bolt on the out side of the slide rail's in the rear.they make the sled role better.
