Western U.P. Snowmobile Report

March 04, 2008

CURRENT SNOW DEPTH:
19

LATEST SNOW and GENERAL WEATHER:
Forecast has been all over the place this year, but it's still looking good with cold nights and daytime highs in the 20's through Wednesday, then teens for Thursday/Friday. Back to 20's Saturday and 35 Sunday & Monday. Chance of snow daily thru Friday.

TRAILS and CONDITIONS:
ON ALL BIG SNOW COUNTRY TRAILS: After the mild weekend followed by sub zero nights, do watch for icy patches and icy corners.
Trails are being worked on, but it will take several groomings to get them back in really good shape.
From the Gogebic Range Trail Authority: groomers out on the trails-trail 2 is groomed and in good shape -they are working on the rest of the trails- trying to get the moguls down. Trails should be back in at least good and hopefully very good condition by Wednesday.
From Lake Gogebic: All groomers out on the entire system everyday and conditions reported good to very good.
Silver City: trails in good to very good condition.
Ontonagon trails are groomed and in good to very good condition.
Watersmeet trails are being groomed and reported in good to very good condition.

BE AWARE: Tickets are being issued for illegal behavior and sleds, including trespassing, not stopping at stop signs, riding illegal railroad grades and especially loud or altered pipes. Just obey the laws and you'll be fine.
As always, check with your lodging facility on ice depth and conditions before venturing out on any Lake.
..Come on up-have fun-be safe!
