My 08 IQ700 against an 08 Shift and there wasn't much difference.  However, mine needed the oil pump adjusted, it was at 20/1.  I think next year it will be better with the pump properly adjusted.  BTW, both sleds were studded and stock out of the box.

Better acceleration from the 700.  Same top speed.  The difference is not big.  Remembered the XC 600 and XC 700 2001-2002-2003 etc... A clutch kit on the 600 and it can be in front of the 700!!!  It's still the same!

Willie,   I was just talking with some guys saying that the 600 cfi is just as quick as the the 700 and faster. They said they lined up a couple last month on a lake and was impressed on that 600. They also said the gas mileage was far better on the 600. 15 to 17 mpg? does that sound right? and 11 to 14 on the 700?

In a fair race, the 700 is faster.  But most of the time, people run the 600 with the 1 inch track and the 700 with the 1 1/4, that's why they are so close on top speed.

I find a 1 1/4" track is much better for accelleration though to 100 mph

That and the 700 is geared too tall like it always has been. Change the gearing in the 700 and the difference is more noticable.

I will change the gearing next year to 23/39 from 25/41.  I have a STOCK 2008 1" Standard IQ 700 and run against my brothers 07 1 1/4 track Dragon 700, both are stock, and his is quicker and has the same top end!  There is something very wrong.  The 1" should be faster, maybe not as quick to 80mph, but should have a faster top end.  The gearing and or clutching is factory wrong!  The most I see on the tach...hard pack, is 8,000RPM, It should, I believe, read around 8,200RPM....  Anyway next year we will try again.  Still, I can't believe NO ONE builds a clutch kit for an 08 IQ700!  Perhaps it's just not worth it.  Guess I'll figure this out next year..............

EPI must have one, don't they? Or call them they can fix you up with something. Ask Willie, he might give you an idea on a clutch set up.

07 dragon stock with 1 1/4 track, 08 dragon 700 with 1 inch track with the same set-up as the 07 dragon, the 08 is faster.  Why do you want a clutch kit for that sled when you can make one that is sheaper...  07 gearing, 07 helix, 11-66.  that's it!

I will do that.  I have an 07 helix already from my brothers 07 Dragon.  I'll order the weights and gears from EPI.

Strange, my brothers 07 Dragon clutching was updated to the 08 spec and runs better then the 07 setup??  He is running exactly what I have, except the gearing.  So the gearing must be the primary thing holding it back.

EPI and HTG do not have anything for 08's.

Would that be the 121" or the 136".  I knew it was at least 100 mph.  Thanks.

Re: 600 cfi vs. 700 cfi

I saw a difference with my 08 700 switch with the gearing, oil pump, throttle body and clutching adjustments.  I got my bodies to open all the way, and adjusted my pump to 52:1.  I went with 23/39 that I had laying around and saw only better top (from 102 to 108 in ideal road conditions). The best bang for the buck was going with 66g hammerheads with a 165/340 slp spring and delrin washers and 58-42-.46/58-44-.46 slp helix and stock rd/blk spring.  I definately had much better acceleration.  Top end is not huge to me, how often do I go over 100 except in the UP, I have the 1200 for that.  I was competative with the f7's and crossfires at the hill-x this year but couldn't beat 2 of them.
