Sparks, NV. – The U.S. Forest Service is preparing an annual application to the California Department of Parks and Recreation, Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division, to request funding for ground operation and education and safety projects for off-highway vehicle (OHV) access.
The Carson and Bridgeport Ranger District plan to request grant funds from the State of California Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division (OHMVR) to enhance and manage motorized recreation in the area. These annual ground operations grants provide important funds for the Carson and Bridgeport Ranger Districts to develop and maintain trails and facilities, repair winter storm damage, as well as monitoring these areas. Education grants provide funding for Bridgeport Avalanche Center program that provides avalanche forecasting for the Bridgeport Winter Recreation Area and snowmobile focused introductory avalanche safety courses.
Preliminary grant applications have been submitted to the OHMVR Division. The public will be able to comment on the preliminary applications from March 3 to May 4, 2020.
