When you enter the front doors of the Salt Lake County Events Center (Equestrian Park) for the Intermountain Snowmobile Show and stand at the top of the stairs, you get a bird's-eye view of all things snowmobiling.
It's at that point that it feels almost like Christmas. Your mind starts racing and you think, "Look at all that stuff. Where do I start?"
A good place to start is with the snowmobiles themselves-which will again be there in full force from all four of the major sled makers-Arctic Cat, Polaris, Ski-Doo and Yamaha. The 2009 models will be on display and showgoers are allowed see, sit on and touch the latest mountain hardware.
The snowmobile manufacturers are strategically located in all four corners of the main floor of the events center, allowing you to pass all sorts of other snowmobile-related as you go down each of the aisles.
The Intermountain Snowmobile Show, sponsored by SnoWest magazine and the Utah Snowmobile Association, takes place Oct. 24-25 at the Salt Lake County Events Center in South Jordan, UT, a suburb of Salt Lake City. For directions to the events center and for detailed information on the snow show, log on to www.snowest.com. Hours are 3-9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25. There's even a $1 off coupon on the website you can print off to use for admission.
As promised, the Intermountain Snowmobile Show is everything to do with snowmobiles, including all the aftermarket parts you can imagine. There will also be snowmobile clothes, helmets and boots for sale, snowmobile trailers on display, DVDs of all the snowmobile action you can imagine and experts in all facets of snowmobiling who can share tips and ideas on how to make your sled run better. If you're looking for a new place to ride, there will be plenty of folks from snowmobile hot spots there to give you some ideas for the upcoming winter.
Just remember that this is a buying show and there will be plenty of snowmobile-related products for sale.
The Utah Snowmobile Association will also be signing up new members as well as be on hand to offer information on snowmobiling in the state. Utah Parks and Recreation personnel will also be manning a booth to offer information on sledding in Utah.
If that isn't enough to lure you through the doors, how does the possibility of winning a new 2009 snowmobile just for showing up and buying a ticket sound? At this year's show, SnoWest magazine, along with Arctic Cat, will be giving away a 2009 Arctic Cat M8 with a 153-inch track. To be eligible to win the snowmobile you have to do two things. First, pay to get into the snow show and second, sign up for the giveaway once you get inside the doors. It doesn't get much easier than that. One entry per paid person.
The SnoWest Vintage Snowmobile Show will also be back and again located on the upper level on the north side of the events center. For information on registering your vintage sled, log on to the SnoWest website and navigate to the snow show section.
The Utah Snowmobile Association will once again be holding a one-day swap meet on the Saturday of the show. Again, there is more information on the SnoWest website about how to register for that part of the show, along with contact information for Ken Rossum, who is heading it up once again.
